Detective Fiction Intro Chapter- “A Bender in Dirty Bend”

Though my specialty is writing about things that already exist in some capacity, I do dip into creative writing genres from time to time. Here is the opening chapter to an original detective fiction novella I began conceptualizing entitled “Freelancer: A Bender in Dirty Bend.” The novella would follow a government spy-for-hire, Solana Sanchez, and her ragtag team struggling to find excitement when their next assignment drops them into a Midwestern town to investigate the brutal and seemingly random murder of a diner waitress.
